Let me share my songs

08/24/2025 -- SUV - Live - MJ Lenderman
This song is really punchy and forceful, I want it to go on about 3x as long as it does. Which feels like a great sign in a song. I know nothing about guitar but my guess is he's using a wawa pedal and I really love that sound here, with the fast pace of all fo the other elements. I really love Manning Fireworks, but I'd also love to hear some more stuff like this. The album version is great but the live version has the energy that is my favorite thing about the song. I think this fall is MJ Lenderman boyfriend season. We're all looking for ours.
08/17/2025 -- Curtain - Greg Freeman
I like this dude and his funky voice. That has been a common trend in recent listenings, Greg Freeman, Spuerchunk and Florry especially have been scratching that itch recently. This song in particular is really warm feeling, a pleasant lateral move after the last album and a very different feeling "Colorado" which is the other song of his that I really fuck with. This one is danceable which I like very much. A lot of his stuff reminds me of Tom Petty, but I haven't put my finger on whether this song is reminiscent of him or someone else yet. I liked the line "Like a pile of dirty dishes you carry yourself to the sink".
08/10/2025 -- Strange Powers - The Magnetic Fields
For some reason when I was younger Stephin Merritt's voice used to irritate me so I didn't really fuck with The Magnetic Fields. I don't know why exactly, maybe it was the low almost monotonous quality or something about his unique tone, but I just didn't like it. At some point that really shifted and I love dearly many songs by them. This one in particular has been following me around for the past few weeks. His voice has the ability to make these love song lyrics laid on top of a jangly beat have an appropriate tinge of melancholy. I cannot get over "In Las Vegas, where the electric bills are staggering", I just love that line, its been playing in my head this week.
08/03/2025 -- It Tastes Just like a Milkshake - M.O.T.O
This song is perfect for listening to while riding your bike in the sun. It's by a band called MOTO (masters of the obvious), who is apparently from New Orleans. This song is garagy, upbeat, and puts you instantly in a better mood. It makes me want a milkshake. I don't know exactly what he's saying tastes like a milkshake (he says its his love, but I'm unconvinced), but it makes me feel like I should be drinking a chocolate milkshake with whipped cream and a cherry on top (or half of one, this is a song for splitting a milkshake with fries on the side).
